PvE means Player versus Environment.
In PvE, the player mainly fights opponents controlled by the game rather than other players. This includes, for example:
- regular NPC enemies;
- elite creatures;
- bosses;
- dungeons and raids;
- other PvE challenges in the game world.
PvE is the opposite of PvP (Player versus Player), where the main opponent is another player.
In some games you may also see the term PvM (Player versus Monster), which is used with a similar meaning.
