How to Protect Your EVOWOW Account
The most important rule is simple: protect your password. Most account theft does not require a sophisticated attack – it only requires a user to give their credentials to the wrong person.
Basic Security Rules
- Never share your password. An EVOWOW staff member will never ask for your password.
- Use a strong, unique password. Avoid simple combinations such as 123456, qwerty, a character name, or other easily guessed information.
- Do not reuse the same password for e-mail, Discord, other websites, or other game servers. If one service is compromised, a different password helps keep your EVOWOW account protected.
- Keep the e-mail address associated with your account active and secure. It is the primary way to recover access if you forget your password.
- Change your password immediately if you believe someone has seen it, you receive a suspicious message, or you used the same password on a service that has been compromised.
- If you have a static public IP address, you can use the account IP-lock feature as an additional layer of protection. Do not enable it if your IP address changes or you are unsure how the feature works.
Account and Character Trading
Do not accept offers to buy, sell, or exchange accounts or characters. Such transactions are prohibited by the EVOWOW Rules and are also one of the easiest ways to lose access to an account.
Even if someone gives you the username and password for an account, the person who controls its registered e-mail address may still be able to recover access.
Fake GMs and Administrators
A common scam is to impersonate a GM or administrator and ask for your password, account credentials, or other sensitive information.
An EVOWOW GM or administrator never needs your password.
The official GM interface in the game has distinctive visual elements. The older examples below show how GM communication appears in the client:
Do not rely only on a name, message, icon, or someone's claim that they are a GM. If they ask for your password, treat the request as a scam.
Other Common Scams
- “I can make you a GM” in exchange for your password or account access.
- A threat to ban you unless you provide your password or other sensitive information.
- A link to a website that looks like EVOWOW and asks you to enter your username and password.
- An offer of free items, points, or services in exchange for your login credentials.
